A couple weeks behind with this one, but finally got around to seeing Ted…
The story is pretty straightforward; a friendless boy makes a wish that his teddy bear comes to life (and becomes his best friend) and the wish is granted. Then they both grow up and ‘Ted’ as an adult becomes a pot smoking, stripper frequenting slacker. Not exactly the most positive influence…
I can do this one as quickly as this movie was pitched: if you’re a fan of Family Guy (as I am), then you’ll get your kicks out of this movie. Like FG, the jokes are crude (cruder here actually with the ‘freedom’ of being in the movie theater), and quickfire. Not all the jokes play, but the ones that do are hilarious. You’ll see and hear a lot of familiar faces here, which really adds to Ted feeling like a live action version of Family Guy, minus Stewie. I don’t know if the MTV Movie Awards still give out a ‘Best Fight’ award, but I’m pretty sure I saw the winner today. I’m showing my age here, but there was also a really awesome moment featuring Johnny Carson.
So you want a quick, crude laugh, I recommend this one.
