Above all else (and this is the actor and the producer talking), the casting gets an A plus. The likable characters are very likable, the villains turn you against them. John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac in particular, salute!
Is it a perfect movie? No. The first few callbacks are cool, some of the others you do feel ‘did you have to repeat that story beat again, really?’
But the ‘surprises’ and ‘turns’ are very satisfying.
The action sequences are great, the highs are really fantastic, the lows hurt. And a lot of chemistry and humor (you see how much that helps, Episodes I-III?)
So all things considered, IS THE DEFINING MYTHOLOGY OF MY GENERATION FINALLY BACK ON STABLE GROUND?
